After buildup reported in
http://nypost.com/news/regionalnews/4989.htm and
http://nypost.com/news/regionalnews/44464.htm ,
the official memorial jury have selected "Reflecting Absence",
a design that makes the old Tower Footprints reflecting pools,
square holes crying out to be filled with four-million-square-foot
office towers,while shutting off West Street with a huge wall.

They reflect their absence of taste,
they reflect their absence of respect for public desire for something
better.

A formal unveiling of the tweaked version will take place
next week before an invited audience.

We MUST make clear that we don't want this travesty.
We will not be alone...the family-group activists and
the BPC residents are sure to be strongly critical.

The family-activists of course want something more cemetery-oriented
(a recent NY Times article repeated the "cemetery" claim as fact).
But numbers in opposition can be useful.

If a presidential assassin blew up the White House,would the White
House site be treated as forevermore strictly that president's tomb?
Of course not!

Pataki's stampede to err in haste and leave his successors
to repent at leisure must be derailed!

WRITE LETTERS...I've given you addresses,and the NYCS board has
a long contact-address list for politicians and for media.

Plans are proceeding with the Gardner "World Trade Center Phoenix"
design,while Eli Attia's "Phoenix Project" design seems gone from
the old web page.There are so many better things to do with the site!!!
