In recent news:

http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/6981.htm
tells of Silverstein naming addiitonal architects...including
Lord Foster, whose plan submitted to the officials was better and
more popular than Libeskind's.Not wonderful, but better.
Now he's being asked to do something 65 stories or less.
Is this a payoff for accepting the bankrupt official process?

http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/6982.htm
tells that officials are going ahead with the intent of wasting
Downtown recovery subsidies on keeping the Bank of America project
in Midtown,on land confiscated from unwilling sellers to help the
would-be developers.

http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/letters/7017.htm
is Imagine New York's defense against charges it
had an agenda...but they certainly reached out to
those who wanted things not to be the way they were.

http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/7463.htm
is a recent storiy on Silverstein's heavy legal bills.
If he can't afford to build what should be built...we
have to make sure the right kind of thing does get built...
not the wrong thing with public money!

See also the Gotham Gazette rebuilding news page
(linked from http://www.put.com/wtc/ as ever) for
relevant stories.

I have finally tracked down the sites for this week's
hearings on the WTC PATH station redevelopment...of secondary
importance to us but it's still important to make sure the
hearings are not a lovefest for megamemorialists, who WILL be
there.

Note there are eharings in Jersey City AND Lower Manhattan.

PLEASE!!
Attend,
or write,
or fax!

Tell them making sure giant towers can be accomodated above the site
is more important than leaving the planned memorial site free of all
productive uses!

Look over the planning documents at www.pathrestoration.com and
www.panynj.gov for food for your thoughts.

The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again,
at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.
