Subject: WTC Rebuilding #213:Memorial Hearing Wednesday

6-9 PM Wednesday May 28th at Tribeca Performing Arts Center
is a public forum on the memorial design process...I will not
be able to attend, but those in or near NYC are encouraged to
attend and condemn the process as a whole, making clear that
the official efforts so far do far too much honor to the
murderers to properly honor the dead.Libeskind's gaping pit
is likely to make Al-Qaeda far prouder than it ever could
New York!

I'll be abroad from today until that evening. Thus,I won't be
at the GG chat Tuesday with that anti-Towers author.

NYCS has been wasting time talking about Tal again.
The rebuilding movement is about getting tall towers
back on the 16 acres,NOT about any personalities.
Let's focus our efforts on our opponents and our goals.

There's also a topic there saying Silverstein wants the
Twin Towers back but this has been met with well-grounded
skepticism.A topic there on what it takes to be eligible to
be designated a landmark has been misconstrued...only a small
fraction of eligible structures actually ARE designated landmarks,
and it has never been possible to designate a structure that no
longer exists.

The vast significance of towers of heroic scale ought to entitle
them to landmark-style protection in most cases, and being built
as part of healing from the great act of mass murder ought to be
an ingredient in providing such protection for new towers from
completion. But the old ones were landmarks in people's hearts,
never in the statute books.

Permits for our rally June 28th(rain date June 29th) are being applied
for and I will keep you all posted,as with progress on our architectural
competition(I hope any of you desiring to submit something are aware of
the draft program at http://www.put.com/wtc/wtcarp.html and any tweaks
will be in the introduction(reflecting the changed official timetable)
and technical submission requirements).

The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again,
at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.
